In this position you will review proposals for the use of natural resources on Crown Land, to determine the impact on First Nations’ treaty rights or aboriginal rights (including title) – claimed or proven – and the appropriate level of consultation needed to meet the Crown’s legal duty to consult. The Senior Advisor, First Nations Relations, supported by an experienced team,?plans and leads the facilitation of the First Nations consultation process and ensures legal obligations have been met. The position makes recommendations to decision makers on whether projects should proceed with respect to First Nation’s rights and interests.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience requirement?as outlined below:

  • Bachelor’s degree related to the natural resource sector (e.g., forestry, resource management, geography, environmental science, economics) and two years related work experience, or
  • Other related master’s degree and two years related work experience with First Nations in BC, or
  • Other related bachelor’s degree and four years related work experience with First Nations in BC

Related experience includes:

  • Experience in leading/coordinating consultation or negotiations with First Nations
  • Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience in policy development and implementation.


  • Must hold and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.
